SmartBug Concealment

The ADACS SmartBug System allows law enforcement agencies to remotely monitor voice, video and GPS from multiple network locations using any wireless carrier. The SmartBug relies upon the device’s speakerphone microphone to deliver clear ambient voice even while concealed. The SmartBug operates in a stealth-like mode deep within the phone’s operating system, undetectable to the average person yet remotely controllable by the user.

The SmartBug operates on the Android or Windows Mobile platform and can be monitored from any network location using multiple PCs, Androids, iPhones or iPad devices. Remote control of the SmartBug is accomplished with SMS text messages that remain hidden from the SmartBug's graphical user interface even while the phone appears to be in the off position.

As a concealment device, the ADACS SmartBug eliminates the need for a local RF receiver by utilizing the cellular network of any service provider. The ADACS SmartBug offers internal and external recording along with advanced functions such as GPS, streaming video and call analysis with ADACS4 Intercept System.

The ADACS SmartBug System: Smartphone Application, Base and Remote Clients

The ADACS PhoneBug System is comprised of three parts: (1) The PhoneBug Software Application runs on the Android or Windows Mobile 6 phone and is deployed in the field. The SmartBug connects via cellular network back to the (2) SmartBug Base Application. The SmartBug Base operates on a PC with a network connection and acts as the administrative point for the SmartBug System as well as a monitoring point, if required. To monitor the remote device, (3) SmartBug Remote Clients in the form of PCs, Android phones, iPhones or iPads, can connect from any network location and receive audio, video and GPS from the SmartBug phone.

Audio

The SmartBug relays ambient voice from the device to the distant monitor by  means of any cellular carrier. The remote monitor is able to listen, record and playback the recording using SyTech's ADACS4 Intercept Platform Software. After the recording is complete, the remote monitor is able to export the file via CDR or other electronic means.

Video

The SmartBug utilizes the phone's integrated camera to stream live video relayed from the device to the remote location. The remote monitor can watch the video live, record it and/or play it back from within the ADACS4 Platform. The casual observer can not see that the SmartBug is relaying the video feed by examining the phone as the SmartBug software continues to remain hidden.

GPS

The SmartBug transmits GPS and call record data to the remote location continuously, or when asked by the SMS control. The ADACS4 Platform allows the user to view GPS locations within the Location Mapping feature of ADACS4. All collected data can be stored and queried for later use.

Unlimited Range and Network

In the past, electronic concealments relied upon an RF transceiver/receiver to communicate with the undercover device. If the device traveled out of range or into a building however, the RF transceiver and receiver would lose connection and the undercover would have to operate without communications.

The ADACS SmartBug resolves this limitation by utilizing the phone’s connection with the cellular network and relaying the captured voice, video and data securely to the monitoring location. Moreover, with the cellular-to-IP transport, the monitoring station(s) can be anywhere they want as long as they have an IP connection and authorized access.

The SmartBug operates on any network on select models of phones.
